Imposter Syndrome

When will they discover I am a fraud!!

Imposter Syndrome, a psychological behaviour that can negatively affect your business, it can prevent you from chasing your dreams, AND it can happen to anyone. Even the most successful entrepreneurs or sportspeople can battle the imposter within.

The imposter is that little voice inside our head that tries to cast doubt over our plans, our achievements, skills and ability to be successful or to enjoy our successes.

Signs may include putting yourself down, doubting yourself and crediting your success to just plain old luck. It is more than just fear and anxiety, that is a whole other post, it is your inner talk leading you to believe that you are not good enough to be doing what you are doing.

Fortunately, like fear and anxiety you can put strategies in place to overcome this behaviour, start by asking yourself some tricky questions. I am a big believer in carrying out a personal SWOT analysis, identifying where your strengths and weaknesses lie, what you need to work on and any threats to being able to do that. Keep this analysis close by and refer to it each time you start to doubt yourself, and work on improving your weaknesses step by step.

AND

DON’T compare yourself to others as that will just waste valuable time.

No I am not a fraud I am a work in progress….
