READY TO LAUNCH
You only get one crack at launching your new business successfully so don’t blow it.
Recently I have watched a couple of new businesses open within my local area without much fanfare, in fact one that is in a prime pedestrian area is already under utilising their marketing opportunities. It is clear they did not have a launch plan.
The type of launch activity that you decide on can depend on whether your business is service or product orientated and should be part of your Business Plan and included in your set up costs. There are so many ways to launch a new business and with all the social media tools available today your ability to reach your target market has been made even easier.
Here are just a few quick ideas that you may consider:
Social media enables you to run teaser campaigns leading up to your launch date without costing you a cent. Build your social profiles through this style of marketing, targeting your market with your posts. Create interaction by having followers try and guess what your business or product will be and when you launch your product, run campaigns to build your sales and your followers. A popular one being tag 5 friends to go into the running to win prizes, which are generally your own products. Consider utilising the services of a Social Media Marketing business to help you launch this way, it will be worth the investment in getting it right especially if you are an Online Only business.
Perhaps you’re opening a Bakery or Ice-cream shop, then have someone outside the door offering tastings to the passerby’s, offering a ‘freebie’ is always a great way to get to talk to strangers about your new store and your products.
Events are a fun way to introduce a business, who doesn’t love a glass of bubbles to celebrate something new. Show off your new premises by inviting your current network, friends, local business leaders, other business owners within your area, get everyone talking about the new Accountant or Personal Trainer. It does not have to be extravagant or lengthy a couple of hours is ample time to network and give a quick speech about yourself.
Collaborate with another business, if your opening a Physiotherapist clinic then work with the local Pilates or Gym, perhaps they can offer a special to your new customers and you might provide free information sessions on rehab or sports injuries to their clients throughout the year. Get involved with a local sports club, offer to be their Physio for the season.
Lastly don’t forget to have a back story, what made you want to start a business, why this business. It doesn’t have to be dramatic, but we all have a story to tell.
