10 TRAITS OF A SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEuR
1. EARLY RISER:
Entrepreneurs are renowned for waking early, they tend to get in some exercise, before answering emails, reading the daily business news and planning their day ahead.
2. KNOWLEDGE:
You can never know too much, and a successful entrepreneur will always ask questions and NEVER think they know it all. The moment you stop listening, you and your business will stop growing. Have you ever heard the term ‘move with the times’
3. ACTIONS:
You are what you do NOT what you will say you will do. Real entrepreneurs are about action not just talk, in fact the successful ones tend to talk less and let their successes speak for themselves. I have had plenty of clients tell me what they are going to do, I then help them create a plan to start and they go away and either do nothing or implement half the plan and then come up with excuses as to why it didn’t work out.
4. SET GOALS:
It may surprise you how many businesses ‘wing it’, and do not set goals, and I am not just referring to long term goals. Entrepreneurs set weekly, monthly even daily goals, especially when it comes to sales. I find Sunday nights are best for setting weekly goals, I assess the previous week and set the scene for the week ahead.
5. COMFORT ZONE:
This is probably one of the biggest traits of most successful people, ability to accept being uncomfortable. For entrepreneurs it may include cold calling for clients, networking, or making presentations, for athletes it could be pushing your body past your perceived limit or asking the coach for feedback.
6. FAILURE:
Entrepreneurs are not scared of failing, they do not let the fear of failure stop them from starting a business or expanding. They accept that there are highs and lows in business and tend to learn from any failures.
7. POSITIVE THINKING:
If you are a negative thinker that will not help you create a successful business. Successful entrepreneurs are naturally positive people, they are the glass half full personality and tend to motivate those around them.
8. FINANCES
A successful entrepreneur will be able to tell you exactly what they are spending, how much a product costs to make and what profit they expect to make. They will have a budget and report on where they stand against that each month. They will not waste money needlessly as their goals are much bigger.
9. MENTOR:
Having a mentor is common practice for successful business owners, an independent person to bounce ideas around, someone to ask you the hard questions to keep you honest. A mentor is an investment that can provide added value to your business.
10. LIKE MINDED PEOPLE:
Successful people tend to keep their immediate circle small and full of quality. They do not need to be surrounded with followers, only with like minded people that give as much as you give them.
